You, You, You
I swear sometimes it’s like we share a mind.
Saying jinx and owing cokes
and always laughing at the same jokes.
I find so much joy out of watching you go
crush everything you try.
Call it love, call it what you want,
but I’m utterly interested in everything
you’ve buried deep inside.
I may be alone in this boat
so all I ask of you is:
Won’t you open your eyes
and see you’re the apple of mine?
Won’t you open yourself to me?
Let me breathe in all that you are.
You don’t have to feel the same,
just let me play pretend.
Let me imagine a world
where I’m your closest friend.
So tell me enough to tie me over,
I think it’d be nice to know
that a small part of us will always remain:
a piece of you will always stay.
I’ll take it with me forever,
knowing that my feelings for you
were good, pure, and strong.
